Viral Post Breaks Down What Works & What Doesn’t On Mumbai Metro Line 3: ‘30 Mins Without Internet?’
Mumbai's Aqua Line, also known as Metro Line 3, is now fully operational after the final stretch opened in October 2025. Running underground from Cuffe Parade to Aarey Colony, it is the city's first metro line to be completely below the surface. The line promises faster travel across major areas and less dependence on road traffic. As commuters begin using it regularly, one detailed post on X (formerly Twitter) is gaining attention for sharing an honest first ride review.
The post talks about what stood out during the journey, what fell short, and how the line could improve with a few fixes.
A Fast And Comfortable First Ride
In the post, the user begins by sharing how the ride felt overall. “First ride on Line 3, and you can sense it. Mumbai has entered a new phase," the post read.
One of the biggest positives mentioned is speed. The user notes that the journey from Sahar Road to Girgaon took just 30 minutes, a huge time saver for daily commuters.
The infrastructure also received praise. Stations were described as clean, modern, and easy to navigate, with clear signs throughout. The user felt ticket prices were fair, considering the comfort and time saved. Air-conditioning stayed comfortable for the entire ride, and closed doors made the trip feel safer compared to local trains. The absence of hawkers, loud music, and begging added to a calm travel experience. The ban on eating inside coaches was also seen as a good move to keep trains clean.
Issues Outside Stations And Inside Too
The post also pointed out areas that need work. The space outside the Sahar Metro station was called disappointing, with litter, water puddles, and illegal parking blocking entry points. The user also mentioned seeing spitting marks near the escalator, saying stricter rules are needed to stop this.
Inside the station, constant audio announcements on escalators felt distracting. At the same time, announcements inside the coaches were said to be a bit too low in volume, especially when compared to Metro Line 1.
Other Notes From The Journey
The train had a fair number of passengers but was not overcrowded, possibly because it was a Saturday evening. The user expected more people.
The post ended by calling Line 3 a promising start but stressed that last-mile connectivity, cleaner station areas, and better civic discipline are key. It also noted that the last train at 10:30 pm feels too early for Mumbai and should run till at least midnight.

Users Share Mixed Reactions Online
As the post gained attention, several users shared their own views on Line 3 in the comments. Some pointed out design concerns, especially related to station access.
“At Sitladevi Station, it takes 6 levels to come to road level. That is not efficient," a user wrote. Others felt the line benefits only certain parts of the city. “Only for SoBo and the Western side. Eastern side doesn't exist for Govt," a comment read.

A few users raised practical concerns, too. “No comments on internet connectivity? What are people going to do for 30 minutes without internet?" a person asked.
Some praised the overall look but flagged small gaps. “Very nice and almost an international standard. I, however, didn't like that escalators are sometimes just for going up, and in some rare instances, not present at all," a user noted. Another simply admired the design, saying, “Girgaon station looks like an airport."
