Delhi Announces 215 Measures To Ease Traffic At 62 Congestion Hotspots | Details Inside
The Delhi government on Tuesday announced that traffic at 62 congestion hot spots across the city is expected to ease significantly, with 215 targeted measures planned to regulate vehicular movement.
According to the government's state action plan against air pollution, 83 interventions have been completed, and 50 more are scheduled to be finished within one to six months. Meanwhile, 46 proposals are said to have been found unfeasible and will be studied further.
These 62 congestion points were significantly leading to localised emissions, with the locations spanning nearly every district of the city, from the chronically clogged Bhavbhuti Marg outside New Delhi Railway Station to Madhuban Chowk in northwest Delhi, Mayur Vihar Phase-3 in east Delhi, South Extension in south Delhi, and Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi, as per a report by Hindustan Times.
More than half of these sites saw severe traffic jams during peak hours, i.e., morning and evening, including major stretches near Safdarjung Hospital, Max Hospital in Saket, and the Punjabi Bagh roundabout, the report highlighted.
Moreover, six areas — including Majnu Ka Tila, Mayur Vihar Phase-3, and South Extension Part-1 — face heavy congestion on weekends and market days.
Going by the government's action plan, each intervention is being analysed in detail, with focus on area-specific measures.
