Adani Group Pledges $100 Billion For Renewable-Powered, AI-Ready Data Centres
Billionaire Gautam Adani-led Adani Group on Tuesday, February 17, announced a direct investment of $100 billion by 2035 to build renewable-energy-powered, hyperscale data centres tailored for artificial intelligence (AI).
The group said the initiative aims to create a long-term sovereign energy and compute platform, positioning India as a global leader in the emerging “Intelligence Revolution."
According to a regulatory filing by Adani Enterprises, the investment is expected to unlock an additional $150 billion in related sectors, including server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms, and allied industries. Together, this could create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the next decade.
“We are expanding from our base in green energy and data centres to build the complete five-layer AI stack, with a strong focus on India’s technological sovereignty. India will not just consume AI — we will create, build, and export intelligence," said Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.
The roadmap builds on AdaniConnex’s existing 2 GW national data centre network, with a target to scale capacity to 5 GW.
The group is collaborating with Google to develop what it describes as India’s largest gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, along with additional facilities in Noida.
It is also working with Microsoft to expand AI-focused data centre infrastructure in Hyderabad and Pune.
Further, Adani plans to deepen its partnership with Flipkart, with the development of a second AI data centre designed to support next-generation digital commerce, high-performance computing, and large-scale AI workloads.
At 1:30 PM, shares of Adani Enterprises were trading 2.30% higher at Rs 2,235 apiece on the BSE following the announcement.
