Who Is Aastha Jain? Shamli’s IPS Star Secures UPSC Rank 9; Father’s Grocery Store Video Explodes Online
When the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on March 6, celebrations began in Shamli village in Uttar Pradesh. This is because Aastha Jain from the region secured 9th rank in the prestigious exam.
According to reports, this was her third attempt at the examination and the one that finally brought her closest to her dream of becoming an IAS officer. Currently undergoing IPS training in Hyderabad, Aastha took leave from her training to prepare once again for the civil services and achieved the milestone largely through self-study.
Aastha Jain: Her Journey Of Multiple UPSC Attempts
Aastha’s journey with the UPSC examination did not begin this year. She had already qualified for the exam twice earlier. In her first attempt, she secured the 131st rank and became an IPS officer. She achieved 181st rank in her second attempt.
But she was determined to fulfil her dream of becoming an IAS officer, so Aastha appeared for the exam for the third time. And her effort finally paid off as she secured the 9th rank in the country in the Civil Services Examination 2025.
According to a report in Bhaskar English, before opting for self-study, Aastha had taken coaching in Delhi for some time. After that, she continued preparing through self-study and online resources while pursuing her goals.
Aastha Jain’s Family Celebrates As Locals Congratulate
As soon as news of Aastha’s success reached her hometown, people began visiting her house to congratulate the family and celebrate the achievement. Friends, relatives and well-wishers lined up to offer sweets and share their happiness with her parents.
Aastha’s family lives in Kandhla town. Her father, Ajay Kumar Jain, runs a grocery and confectionery shop there, while her mother, Mamta Jain, is a homemaker. The family has four children: three daughters and one son. Aastha is the second among them. Her elder sister is a doctor, while her younger sister is currently pursuing an MBBS degree.
Speaking about his daughter’s achievement, Ajay Kumar Jain told Bhaskar English that she reached this position purely through hard work. He also shared that he always ensured his daughters received equal opportunities in education and never allowed any shortcomings in their studies.
Her mother, Mamta Jain, also expressed happiness over the achievement and said her daughter had always dreamed of becoming a District Magistrate (DM). According to her, that dream has now come closer to reality with Aastha securing the 9th rank in the country.
Aastha Jain’s Father At His Grocery Store
Meanwhile, a video of Aastha’s father at his grocery store has surfaced online and is being widely shared on social media after her success. In the clip, he can be seen assisting customers at the shop with a pencil tucked behind his ear.
A user sharing the video wrote, “A proud moment for the family and an inspiring example of determination and hard work."

An individual added, “This is not just a rank, it’s a victory for the dreams of every small trader. Hearty congratulations to Aastha Jain."
Aastha Jain’s Academic Background
Aastha had also demonstrated academic excellence earlier in her student life. In 2019, she scored 496 out of 500 marks in the CBSE intermediate examination and secured the fourth rank in the country, Jagran reported.
She later completed her graduation with a BA degree from Delhi University. During this period, she continued her UPSC preparation through coaching, self-study and online learning.
Aastha credited her parents, sisters Aanchal and Khushi, her brother Sarthak and her teachers for supporting her throughout the journey and helping her achieve success.

The achievement also drew appreciation from Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who congratulated Aastha through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
