CMAT 2026 Date: NTA To Conduct Exam On January 25; Check Exam Pattern
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the exam schedule for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) on January 25, 2026. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 180 minutes in English. CMAT is a national-level entrance exam for admission to management programmes in the country.
The exam will be divided into five sections: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Each section will contain 20 questions, totalling 80 marks. Overall, the exam will consist of 100 questions and 400 marks.
Each question is worth four marks. For each incorrect response, one mark will be deducted from the total score. Unanswered or unattempted questions will not receive any marks. If multiple correct options or a change in the key occurs after the Answer Key Challenges process, only those candidates who answered correctly according to the revised Answer Key will be awarded marks. If a question is dropped due to a technical error, full marks will be given to all candidates, regardless of whether they attempted the question or not.
According to the tie-breaking rule, the National Merit Ranking (All India Rank) will be determined based on the score achieved relative to the total score. Students with the same score will be listed in ascending order of their date of birth, with older candidates appearing first. Candidates with the same score will share the same merit rank, and the subsequent merit number will be skipped accordingly.

The NTA has clarified that it has no role in the counselling process for admission to management programmes. Therefore, candidates should apply separately to their chosen CMAT-2026 participating institutions using their exam scores.
Each institution will publish its own cut-off CMAT scores. Candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria of the respective institutions to qualify for admission. Once eligible, candidates must follow the institution's selection procedure, which may include Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The final selection will be based on the candidate's performance in GD and PI.
