CUET UG 2026: NTA allows photo correction for mismatch cases, apply before April 14
On April 11, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced an important update for the candidates of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2026) with respect to the verification of photographs. According to the latest announcement, the photo verification certificate module is currently active, and the applicants, whose uploaded photos contain any mismatches, have until April 14 to correct their information and re-verify it.
The notice further mentions that this facility has only been implemented for some sections of the candidates, including Non-Aadhaar applicants and Aadhaar/DigiLocker users whose application photographs depict a mismatch. The aim is to ensure that the process of verifying the identity of a candidate is easier and that there are no problems when examining and admitting a candidate.
According to NTA, candidates whose photos have been marked as a mismatch will have to upload an attested Photo Verification Certificate through the CUET portal. The certificate should be properly verified as per the format given by the authorities. Once uploaded, the submission will be reviewed by NTA.
Any submissions made after the deadline will not be accepted. Therefore, the candidates are advised not to wait till the deadline and to complete the correction procedure as early as possible to avoid any last-minute technical issues.
Applicants should ensure that the photo they provide is clear and up to date and matches their present image. Poor quality images, old photos or images with obscured faces can result in being rejected when verifying. Attentively following the official guidelines is important when uploading the certificate to prevent any mistakes. It is advised to save a copy of the photograph being submitted in case of any future reference.
The CUET UG 2026 examination will be for a total of 250 marks. This is further divided into three sections. According to the marking scheme, candidates will be given five marks for every correct answer, while one mark will be deducted, that is, one mark will be cut for each incorrect response. The exam will be conducted in 13 languages, such as English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Punjabi.
