Noida’s Most Expensive ‘0001’ Number Plate Sold For Rs 27.5 Lakh, Why Is It Considered The Ultimate Status Symbol?
A Noida-based pharmaceutical company has created a new record after paying Rs 27.5 lakh for the special vehicle number ‘UP16FH0001'. The company, Aviorion Pvt Ltd, from Sector 126, placed the highest bid in an online auction held through the parivahan.gov.in portal.
The number will be used on a Mercedes-Benz car. Officials reportedly confirmed that this is the highest amount ever collected for a registration number in Noida.
Assistant regional transport officer (ARTO) Nand Kumar said the company deposited the entire amount after winning the bid, as per The Times of India. The auction was conducted for the newly released UP16FH series, for which participants were required to deposit a security fee of Rs 33,000.
The new record easily beat the previous high of Rs 11 lakh, which was paid for the number ‘UP16FD0008' in September this year.
How The Bidding Unfolded
According to officials, the competition for the premium numbers was intense. Category A numbers like 0001, 0002, and 0003 usually attract the most interest, and the same pattern continued during this auction as well. Aviorion Pvt Ltd held the highest bid until the very end and secured the plate after paying the full amount.
Transport department officials also said that the auction process has become more dependable now. In earlier cases, bidders had backed out after placing very high bids.
Last year, one bidder offered Rs 32 lakh for ‘UP16EP0001' but later withdrew. The department has since strengthened its process to avoid such situations.
Categories For Fancy Registration Numbers
Fancy numbers are divided into four groups based on demand. The premium group includes top picks like 0001, 0002 and 0003. The second group has numbers such as 0010, 0011 and 0022. The third group includes 0018, 0027 and 0036, while the fourth has numbers like 0020, 0030 and 0040.
These numbers often attract buyers who want exclusivity or a particular combination that holds personal meaning.

The huge interest in special registration numbers reflects the rapid growth of vehicle ownership in the city.
The Noida transport department now has reportedly close to 11 lakh registered vehicles, and officials say that demand for exclusive numbers has continued to rise each year.
