Writing in , Haley described India as a “prized free and democratic partner” and stressed that its rise should be welcomed as a stabilising force for the free world—unlike Communist-controlled China, which she argued poses a direct challenge to global order.

Haley argued that building a stronger US-India partnership should be an obvious priority, calling it a “no-brainer” in the effort to check Beijing's influence.
She noted in her opinion piece for the media outlet that India's unmatched capacity to manufacture at scale, making it central to US efforts to shift critical supply chains away from China. Products such as textiles, low-cost phones, and solar panels, she noted, cannot be produced quickly or economically in America but can be sourced from India at a scale comparable to Chinese production.

"India's growing clout and security involvement in the Middle East could prove essential in helping to stabilize the region as America seeks to send fewer troops and dollars there. And India's location at the center of China's vital trade and energy flows could complicate Beijing's options in the case of a major conflict," she wrote.
The Republican leader also stresesd on India's rapid economic rise, pointing out that it is now the world's fastest-growing major economy and on track to overtake Japan. India's emergence, she argued, represents “the greatest obstacle to China's goal of reshaping the global order. Simply put, China's ambitions will have to shrink as India's power grows.”
Call for urgent reset in US-India ties
The cautioned that recent frictions over trade must not be allowed to escalate into a lasting rupture. The United States has already imposed a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods and is set to double it to 50% with a new levy coming into force on August 27. Allowing this dispute to fester, she warned, risks playing into China's hands.She cited India's fraught border with China and the 2020 Galwan Valley clash as reminders of Beijing's aggression, saying that a robust US partnership would help India withstand both military and economic pressure from its northern neighbour.
Haley urged US President Donald Trump to act swiftly to “reverse the downward spiral” by engaging directly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and addressing concerns over India's Russian oil purchases through dialogue rather than confrontation.
“The sooner the better,” she wrote, calling for the relationship to receive the same level of attention and resources that Washington devotes to China or Israel.
In her closing remarks, Haley underscored that both countries must remain focused on their shared goals: “To face China, the United States must have a friend in India.”
