Months after gunshots were fired at Kapil Sharma's Canada cafe, Rakhi Sawant has now made some shocking claims. In a recent interview, Rakhi alleged that the comedian had staged the entire firing incident to get publicity. She accused Kapil of defaming Lawrence Bishnoi and slammed his alleged ‘cheap publicity'.
“Kapil Sharma apna restaurant hit karane ke liye goliyaan chalwa rahe hai. Kya hamare Bishnoi bhai ki bande itne free baithe hai ke inko goliyaan maar rahe hai? Arey bhai tum publicity karo apne restaurant ko hit karne ke liye Canada mein. Aap hamare bhai ko kyu badnaam kar rahe ho? Bishnoi gang ko kyu badnaam kar rahe ho? Kya aap logo ko yeh cheap publicity nahi lagti?" Rakhi told Filmygyan.
For the unversed, in July 2025, several shots were fired at a newly opened cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, owned by comedian Kapil Sharma and his wife, Ginni Chatrath. The cafe- named Kaps Caffe- had just celebrated a soft opening, drawing attention for its elegant pink-and-white interior, floral accents and a menu of artisan coffee and desserts. However, celebrations turned to chaos when the eatery was vandalised. While no injuries were reported, the property suffered damage.
Later, Goldy Dhillon of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the shooting and sent a stern warning to the comedian. “JAI SHRI RAM, Satshriakal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y kapil sharma k kaps cafe..Surrey m firing hui iski jimevari, Goldy dhillon, Lawrence bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi Sunai di to karwai krni pdi ab b ring n sunegi to next karwai jaldi hi Mumbai krege," he wrote on social media.
Kapil also issued a statement later which read, “Thank you Mayor Brenda Locke, @surreypoliceservice and all the officials who visited @thekapscafe_ to show their love and support. United we stand against violence. We're truly grateful."
