Jaya Ekadashi 2026: Date, puja timings, parana time and spiritual significance of worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi

Jaya Ekadashi 2026 Date And Time: Ekadashi fasts are kept twice every month, once in the Krishna Paksha and once in the Shukla Paksha, and both are intended for the worship of Lord Vishnu, protector and preserver of the universe. On this day, devotees also worship Goddess Lakshmi, seeking peace, prosperity, and freedom from past sins.

Among the Ekadashis, Jaya Ekadashi falls in the month of Magh, and keeping this fast brings prosperity and blessings from Lord Vishnu.

Ekadashi begins: 28 January 2026 at 4:35 PMEkadashi ends: 29 January 2026 at 1:55 PM

Devotees observe the fast on the Ekadashi tithi and break it the following day during the prescribed Parana time.

According to religious texts, Lord Krishna explained the importance of Jaya Ekadashi to King Yudhishthira, saying that observing this fast can free a person from even the gravest sins

On Jaya Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu is worshipped in his Madhav form. Scriptures state that fasting on this day helps cleanse one of serious sins and brings peace to one's ancestors. It is also believed to guide the soul toward a righteous path in the afterlife.

According to religious texts, Lord Krishna explained the importance of Jaya Ekadashi to King Yudhishthira, saying that observing this fast can free a person from even the gravest sins, including Brahmahatya. Because of this, the vrat is considered extremely powerful.

Devotees can perform Vishnu Puja during the following auspicious time windows:

Morning Puja Muhurat: 7:11 AM to 8:32 AM

Second Auspicious Period: 11:14 AM to 1:55 PM

These periods are considered ideal for prayers, recitation of Vishnu Sahasranama, and offering tulsi leaves to the deity.

Breaking the Ekadashi fast is known as Parana and must be done carefully by following the correct rules.

Parana Date: 30 January 2026

Parana Time: 7:10 AM to 9:20 AM

Dwadashi ends: 11:09 AM

Devotees must break the fast after sunrise and before the end of Dwadashi tithi. Failing to do so is considered inauspicious.
