GST 2.0 Impact: Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun, Tiguan See Big Price Cuts From Sept 22
Volkswagen India has announced that it will pass on the full advantage of the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST 2.0) structure to customers across its portfolio, with the updated prices coming into effect from September 22, 2025.
The revision brings notable price drops across models. Depending on the variant, the Virtus will be cheaper by up to Rs 66,900, the Taigun by up to Rs 68,400, and the premium Tiguan R-Line by as much as Rs 3,26,900.
Alongside the GST-linked cuts, Volkswagen is also rolling out limited-time promotional offers, with benefits of up to Rs 1.61 lakh on select Taigun trims and as high as Rs 3 lakh on the Tiguan R-Line. For detailed pricing and available schemes, customers can visit their nearest Volkswagen dealership.
Several automakers have announced the rate cuts on their various car models, offering the benefits of the GST rate rationalization with effect from September 22.
Petrol, CNG and LPG cars with engine capacity up to 1200cc and length up to 4000 mm will now attract 18% GST, lower from the earlier 28%. Diesel cars with engine capacity up to 1500cc and length up to 4000 mm also get the lower 18% GST rate.
Cars with engine capacity above 1200cc (petrol/CNG/LPG) or above 1500cc (diesel) or length more than 4000 mm will now attract a 40% GST, as compared with nearly 50% (28% GST + 17%-22% compensation cess) earlier.
Skoda India has also announced that it will extend GST 2.0 benefits to customers, reducing prices by up to Rs 3.3 lakh. On top of this, the company is offering special festive discounts of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for bookings made before September 21.
The Skoda Kodiaq, currently priced from Rs 46.89 lakh (ex-showroom), will now be cheaper by as much as Rs 3.3 lakh.

Similarly, the Skoda Kushaq, with a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh, will get a GST-linked reduction of up to Rs 66,000, along with a limited-period festive offer of up to Rs 2.5 lakh, valid until September 21.
