Wowed On Shark Tank, Got Investment From Bollywood Actress: This Pune Firm Has Raised ₹16 Cr, It Makes...
Pune-based deep-tech startup Without is turning heads and waste into opportunity. Wondering how? The company recently unveiled India's first FOAK (First of a Kind) demonstration recycling plant. This plant is capable of processing up to 5 tons of previously “non-recyclable" plastic waste per month.
Built over a 1,030 sq. meter site, the integrated plant handles the entire lifecycle from waste processing to product manufacturing under one roof. This step is the first phase of a larger commercial plant that the company plans to launch next year.
The startup company earlier appeared on Shark Tank India, where they showcased glasses made from recycled chip packets. They have raised Rs 16.8 crore ($1.9 million) in seed funding to scale up their pioneering recycling technology.
Dia Mirza Invests In Without
The round was led by Rewilding Wealth and also included participation from Acko co-founder Vishnunath Rama Rao and former Unilever expert Veena More. Among the backers is also Bollywood actor and environmental activist Dia Mirza, who joins as both an investor and strategic advisor.
Dia Mirza, impressed by Without's innovation and mission, said, “Without is proving that the climate movement can be connected with science and justice," as quoted by Zee Business.
How Does Without Work?
Unlike traditional recycling methods such as pyrolysis or co-processing, Without uses a patented chemo-mechanical recycling process. They extract raw materials from multi-layer plastics like chip packets, wrappers, and textile waste and convert them into two high-value products: VERDiFLX: High-Quality Polyolefin and VERDiTPA: Purified Terephthalic Acid.
From Waste to Earning: Without's Business Model
Operating on a B2B model, Without supplies sustainable raw materials to brands aiming to reduce their environmental footprint. This tech-forward approach is energy-efficient and scalable and has already processed over 7.6 lakh pieces of plastic waste from landfills.
Its consumer products, like sunglasses and coasters made from recycled materials, are already available in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

What's Next?
The company plans to launch three more recycling hubs in the next two years, laying the groundwork for a nationwide, decentralised recycling network. Within 7–10 years, Without aims to recycle all forms of plastic and textile waste in India. This system will not only save the environment but also provide sustainable employment for waste workers.
