UPSRTC to launch two new mobile apps for real-time bus tracking and seat booking soon; how to download?
In a bid to make travel easier for passengers, the Uttar Pradesh Surface Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to launch two new mobile applications, UP Rahi and Margdarshi, designed to streamline bus travel across the state. The apps allow passengers to book seats, access journey-related information, and track the real-time location of buses, significantly reducing uncertainty around travel schedules.The initiative is modelled on real-time train-tracking platforms such as Where Is My Train? and Railyatri.com, which have transformed the rail travel experience by offering live updates and predictive arrival information. According to Jagran.com, which cited UPSRTC officials, the mobile applications are scheduled for a phased rollout and are expected to be fully available to passengers by February 2026.
– Passengers will be able to book seats and track the real-time location of their respective buses through these apps.
– Authorities are currently trying to equip each corporation bus with a GPS.
– Once completed, passengers will be able to see which bus is about to arrive or has already arrived at their nearest bus station.
– The app will prevent passengers from waiting for long hours at the bus stops.
– The application will especially help the elderly, women, and passengers traveling with their children.
– The app will be integrated into all bus routes of UP, connecting major districts of the state.
Regional Manager RK Tripathi said the introduction of the digital system will ensure transparency and efficiency in road transport services, marking a key step in the digital modernisation of Uttar Pradesh's roadways network. He added that real-time monitoring would make it easier to track buses and improve punctuality. Passengers will be able to download a mobile application from home to book seats and check the status of buses before starting their journey.
Both UP Rahi and Margdarshi are available on the Google Play Store. However, for iOS users, only the UP Rahi application is available for the passengers. Currently, the Margdarshi app has not been built for the App Store (for iPhone users).
