The Khadi and Village Industries Department has launched a scheme offering bank loans up to Rs 10 lakh to promote self-employment among rural youth. Applicants will get interest subsidies, with full interest support for reserved categories. Eligible candidates can apply online till December 31.
The Khadi and Village Industries Department has launched a financial support initiative aimed at encouraging self-employment among rural youth. Under the Chief Minister's Village Industries Employment Scheme for General Category Men, eligible applicants can avail bank loans of up to Rs 10 lakh to start their own businesses in villages.
Officials said the scheme is designed to promote entrepreneurship in rural areas while reducing financial pressure on young job seekers. The government will subsidise a major portion of the interest on these loans, making credit more affordable for first-time entrepreneurs.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries from the general category will pay only 4 per cent interest on the bank loan, while the remaining interest amount will be borne by the department. For applicants belonging to reserved categories, including SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen, the department will cover the entire interest for a period of five years.
Applicants must be permanent residents of rural areas and fall within the 18 to 50 years age group. The scheme also requires beneficiaries to make a self-contribution towards the project cost. General category male applicants must contribute 10 per cent, while candidates from reserved categories are required to contribute 5 per cent.
Officials clarified that individuals who have already received financial assistance under any other government loan or grant scheme will not be eligible for this programme.
Providing details on the application process, District Village Industries Officer R K Srivastava said that interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official portal. The last date to apply is December 31.
Applicants must also submit a printed copy of the online application at the District Village Industries Office, Vikas Bhawan, along with required documents. These include a recent photograph, residence and caste certificates, educational qualification certificate, affidavit, Aadhaar card, a detailed project report, and a boundary certificate verified by the village head.
Authorities have urged eligible youth to apply within the deadline and take advantage of the scheme to build sustainable livelihoods in rural areas.
