UP Govt Gives One-Time 3-Year Age Relaxation For 32,679 Police Constable Vacancy
In a major relief for police recruitment aspirants, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a one-time relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for constable-level posts. According to an official statement, the age relaxation will apply to candidates of all categories for the proposed 2025 direct recruitment, in line with the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The decision has been taken under the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules, 1992.
Officials said the move is expected to benefit many aspirants who missed earlier recruitment opportunities due to age restrictions, especially after delays caused during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The age relaxation will apply to recruitment for 32,679 posts. These include constables (civil police) for men and women, PAC and armed police constables, special security force constables, women battalion constables, mounted police constables, and jail warders of both genders.
The government said the relaxation is a one-time measure and will be applicable to candidates who would otherwise become ineligible due to age limits. The decision follows the recruitment notification issued on December 31 last year.

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) had announced the recruitment drive for 32,679 constable-level and equivalent posts on December 31. The online application process began the same day and will remain open till January 30, 2026. Candidates must complete a one-time registration (OTR) before submitting their application forms.

Officials added that the recruitment is part of the 2025 direct recruitment process and comes after the completion of appointments to more than 60,000 constable posts earlier in 2025. Candidates have been advised to check the official website of the recruitment board for detailed eligibility conditions, selection process and exam-related information.
