When a film blends romance with creature horror, you expect curiosity at the ticket window. But Tu Yaa Main box office collection Day 2 numbers suggest that curiosity hasn’t yet translated into footfall.
The Bejoy Nambiar directorial saw only a slight jump on Saturday after a slow start on Friday. According to Sacnilk.com, the Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav-starrer earned Rs 1.09 crore nett in India on Saturday, taking the total to Rs 1.69 crore in two days.
Day-wise breakdown
Tu Yaa Main opened to Rs 60 lakh on Friday. On Saturday, it showed marginal growth, collecting Rs 1.09 crore as per early estimates. The film reportedly had 1186 shows with an average occupancy of 16.8 per cent.
Despite the weekend boost, the overall numbers remain modest, putting pressure on Sunday collections to stabilise the film’s theatrical run.
What the film is about
Tu Yaa Main follows two social media influencers whose romantic trip turns into a survival nightmare. Shanaya Kapoor plays Avani, aka Miss Vanity, while Adarsh Gourav essays Maruti, also known as Aala Flowpara. Their getaway spirals out of control when they find themselves trapped in a swimming pool with a crocodile.
The film attempts to mix romance, tension and creature horror into one narrative, banking on its unusual premise.
Review and word of mouth
News18 Showsha rated the film 3.5 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “Watch Tu Yaa Main for its freshness. It may test your patience before it tests your nerves but it dares to blend romance and creature horror into one experience, and that almost works. The film, however, slightly falters at its closing frame. After investing heavily in prolonged tension and emotional build-up, Tu Yaa Main opts for an ending that feels rushed, leaving a few questions unanswered. But all said and done, it is Bejoy’s willingness to take risks that gives the film its distinct identity."
Produced by Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma and Vinod Bhanushali, the film now depends heavily on weekend word-of-mouth to improve its box office performance. For now, Tu Yaa Main box office collection figures indicate a challenging start.
