Many people assume that a daily shower automatically means their entire body is clean—but that isn't always the case. Bathing every day does not necessarily remove germs from all areas, as some body parts tend to collect more sweat, oil, and dirt and are often overlooked.
A New York–based doctor, Tony, has highlighted several such areas that harbour the highest levels of bacteria, including the belly button, behind the ears, between the toes, under the fingernails, the armpits, and the neck.
These spots trap sweat, dead skin, and moisture, creating the perfect environment for bacteria and fungi to thrive. Over time, this can lead to unpleasant odour, skin irritation and even infections. The belly button remains warm, toes stay sweaty, dirt accumulates under nails, and oil builds up behind the ears. The takeaway is simple: daily bathing alone isn't enough if these areas are ignored. True hygiene requires paying special attention to these often-forgotten spots.
‘Ignored Spots Can Cause Smell And Skin Problems'
In his video caption, the doctor wrote, “Showering every day doesn't mean you're clean. Some body parts collect bacteria, sweat and dead skin if you don't scrub them right. Behind your ears, your belly button, between your toes, your armpits, neck and under your nails are all germ hot spots. That's where odour, irritation and fungus often start."
“The fix? Simple: warm water, mild soap, a washcloth and drying well after. Keeping these areas fresh = less odour, fewer breakouts, healthier skin overall. Did you know most skin infections come from spots people forget to wash?" doctor Tony added.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “I do all that the whole body. Who doesn't clean those parts?"
Another shared, “I just got home and scrubbed under my nails. I did know about those other areas, too. Woo hoo, I'm doing it right."
“I learned as a child to wash the belly button and ears between the toes and every crevice we have. Bath morning and at night," a comment read.
