Telangana College’s Drunk Watchman Sleeps With Leg Inside Cooked Rice Pot: ‘Feed That To Him, Please’
A watchman sleeping on duty is considered a major breach of responsibility but the rule break was taken a notch higher at an institution in Telangana. Reportedly, a watchman at a polytechnic institution near Ismailkhanpet was removed from duty after students spotted him sleeping in the campus kitchen with one of his legs resting inside a vessel of cooked rice intended for hostel residents. Students filmed the scene, which swiftly spread throughout social media channels, causing the college to take fast action.
As per a Deccan Chronicle report, the college administration and students were allegedly taken aback when the watchman, Chandrashekar, was seen laying next to the pot of rice. According to the complaint, he was inebriated and could not be awakened by other workers. Meanwhile, the cooked rice needed to be thrown away due to contamination. The students who discovered the watchman in this state notified the food contractor. Following the rapid transmission of the video, the district collector acted quickly and ordered that the guard be immediately removed from duty.

The camera footage of the incident showed the man resting on the counter with his foot inside the rice container, as pupils expressed disbelief at what they were seeing.
How Did The Officials React?
A report by Free Press Journal mentions that in response, Sangareddy District Collector Praveenya stepped in and ordered the watchman to be removed off duty immediately. After reviewing the disturbing viral video, college officials confirmed his discharge.

Online users also expressed their outrage. One person noted, “Don't expect any action other than his dismissal from the job." while another said, “Shocking visuals, but also a reminder that regular monitoring and proper staffing are essential in hostels."
The event raised serious concerns about food safety and worker conduct at the hostel. Hostel residents took to social media to share the video and demand accountability. At the same time, the college administration is claimed to be reviewing how it hires and monitors temporary personnel.
