It might take Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammates a few days to sink in the feeling of becoming a World Champion. India defeated South Africa in a thrilling ICC Women's World Cup final, clinching their maiden title. Batting first, India scored 298 for 7 — the second-highest total in World Cup history — and bowled South Africa out for 246 in 45.3 overs. With this, India joined Australia, England, and New Zealand as the only teams to have won the trophy.
While social media was abuzz with heartfelt messages for the Women in Blue, Jemimah Rodrigues took to her official Instagram handle to share some beautiful pictures with the World Cup trophy.
“Good morning world," she wrote, posting a picture with Smriti Mandhana holding the trophy.
In another post, she shared a picture with Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy, who joined them in flaunting the silverware.
“Are we still dreaming?" Rodrigues wrote.
India's wait for World Cup glory finally ended in Navi Mumbai as Harmanpreet Kaur's spirited team lifted the ICC Women's World Cup for the first time. The triumph was the culmination of years of heartbreaks and near-misses, marking a new dawn for women's cricket in India.
Shafali Verma, recalled after Pratika Rawal's injury, shone brightest with a dazzling 87 and two crucial wickets, turning the final into her stage of redemption. Deepti Sharma, ever-reliable, complemented her perfectly with a composed fifty and a five-wicket haul, earning the Player of the Final honour.
As Harmanpreet caught the last ball and dropped to her knees in joy, the emotions of decades poured out. This win was for pioneers like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, and for the new generation ready to carry the flame. November 2, 2025 — the golden chapter of Indian women's cricket.
