Royal Enfield seems to be working on the E85-ready version of the Classic 350. Although the government has just proposed amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, to introduce higher ethanol blends like E85 (85% ethanol) and E100, and there is no final confirmation as of yet, Royal Enfield appears to be laying the groundwork early with a flex-fuel version of its popular retro roadster. Ever since its launch in 2009, the Classic 350 has been one of the most popular bikes in RE’s lineup. It has received two major updates over the years, and the most recent one was in 2024. The bike’s seat stands at 805mm, while the kerb weight is 195 kg. The wide handlebars and upright ergonomics makes the Classic 350 a comfortable companion for city rides and weekend escapades.
The Classic 350 currently starts at Rs 1.86 lakh (ex-showroom), and is available in multiple colour options. There is no confirmation, the E85-compatible Classic 350 is expected to retain the same core strengths, while serving as a more environmentally-sustainable option. Here’s a closer look at the expected prices, specs and features of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 E85 in India.
Royal Enfield Classic 350’s key design elements include LED headlamp, and taillamp, big mudguards, and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank.
While the Classic 350 will preserve its old-school charm, it may receive a few updates in the form of new colours and graphics to distinguish it from the standard E20-compliant model. Key design elements such as the LED headlamp, tail lamp, turn indicators, position lamps, big mudguards, and the teardrop-shaped fuel tank are expected to remain the same.
The existing Royal Enfield Classic 350 packs a 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 20bhp and 27Nm, and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield could update this unit for upcoming E85-compatible version by reworking internals and fuel system to support higher content of ethanol in petrol. That said, the overall hardware setup should remain unchanged, including a 41mm telescopic fork at the front and twin rear shock absorbers. Stopping power will continue be a disc-drum setup and single-channel ABS on lower variants. The top-spec models, meanwhile, will offer disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 flex-fuel launch date in India remains unconfirmed, but it is expected to arrive once the proposed ethanol fuel regulations come into effect, likely toward the end of the year. When introduced, the E85-compatible version is anticipated to fetch a slight premium over Rs 10,000–Rs 15,000 over the existing model.
