Delhi blast news: A powerful blast near Delhi's Red Fort metro station on Monday evening killed at least nine people and injured over 20. The explosion, which occurred at a traffic signal, gutted several vehicles and triggered panic. Authorities have closed the Red Fort metro station, imposed traffic restrictions, and placed the capital on high alert with intensified security checks.

Red Fort Blast traffic advisory: Delhi woke up to heightened security and chaos on Tuesday morning after a powerful blast near the Red Fort metro station claimed at least nine lives and left over 20 injured late Monday evening.

The explosion, which tore through a slow-moving car at a traffic signal close to the historic monument, also gutted several nearby vehicles, triggering panic in one of the capital's busiest tourist zones. Following the incident, authorities have shut the Red Fort for three days, Lal Qila Metro Station and imposed heavy traffic restrictions across the area.

The Delhi Police and security agencies have intensified patrolling, while forensic teams continue to examine the blast site. As part of precautionary measures, the national capital has been placed on high alert, with additional checks being conducted at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.

Red Fort Metro Station closed for security reasons

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the closure of the Lal Qila (Red Fort) Metro Station on Tuesday morning, citing security reasons.

In a post on X, DMRC said, “Service Update: Lal Qila Metro Station is closed due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal.”

Commuters have been advised to use nearby metro stations, including Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate, until further notice.

Red Fort blast: Delhi Traffic Police issues diversion advisory

The Delhi Traffic Police has implemented emergency traffic diversions on Netaji Subhash Marg, restricting vehicle movement between Chatta Rail Cut and Subhash Marg Cut.

The advisory reads, “Due to exigencies, traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place in both carriageways and service roads on Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut.”

Commuters have been urged to avoid the route from 6 am until further orders and take alternate roads for a smooth journey.

Delhi on high alert after blast

The explosion, which occurred at a traffic signal near the Red Fort metro station on Monday evening, gutted several vehicles and left multiple people critically injured. Security has been ramped up across Delhi, with enhanced checks at airports, railway stations, and bus terminals.

Forensic teams are on-site collecting evidence, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to assist in the probe.
