Blast near Red Fort: Delhi Police file case under UAPA, Explosives Act

The Delhi Police have filed a case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in connection with the car blast near the Red Fort metro station on Monday, which killed eight persons, ANI reported.
The police have also invoked sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Explosives Act in the case, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raja Banthia said.
Teams from the National Security Guard, Delhi Police and the forensic science laboratory are carrying out investigations at the spot, the official was quoted as saying by ANI.
“There are some body parts in the car [in which the blast took place],” Banthia said. “The FSL team is collecting them; so let's see how it connects.”
The police are yet to state the cause of the explosion, which took place in a Hyundai i20 car near gate number one of the Red Fort metro station.
The blast took place at about 6.52 pm on Monday, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha said.
“A slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light,” said Golcha. “An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that the matter was being investigated in detail, and that “all angles were being kept open”.
