The fallout between Ranveer and the makers of Don 3 appears to can soon become a bitter legal battle. What began as an unexpected exit from the highly anticipated franchise has now escalated into a Rs 40 crore compensation dispute, with both parties refusing to budge. With mediation attempts failing and both sides refusing to back down, the matter may soon head to court. Earlier this month, filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani approached the Producers Guild of India seeking Rs 40 crore in damages after Ranveer allegedly exited Don 3 abruptly. The production house, Excel Entertainment, claimed losses incurred during the film’s pre-production and development stages. However, Ranveer strongly refuted the allegations. According to sources, the actor accused the banner of unprofessional conduct and long-standing delays that stalled the project for years. He reportedly presented a detailed document with emails and WhatsApp conversations to support his claim that the production lacked commitment and clarity.
Farhan Akhtar And Ranveer Singh To Take Legal Route?
In an attempt to find common ground, several top Bollywood producers – including Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala, Ektaa Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar and Punit Goenka – reportedly gathered at Aamir Khan’s Mumbai residence for informal discussions, as per Variety India. Despite the honest mediation attempt, both parties stood firm on their demands. Farhan and Ritesh did not budge from their compensation demand, while Ranveer maintained that he bore no financial liability.
The same report suggests that Ranveer was initially willing to pay a certain amount as a goodwill gesture. However, after being presented with what he reportedly considered an “excessive” compensation figure, he withdrew the offer. The actor was actually ready to pay some compensation, but he could not accept responsibility for the entire financial loss due to stalling of the project.
Ranveer Singh refuses to pay Rs 40 Crore
The Producers Guild of India has since advised both sides to seek legal recourse, stating that mediation is ineffective when neither party is open to compromise. Earlier reports suggested the matter could be referred to Cine & TV Artistes Association if talks failed, but the latest report now suggest that the dispute is headed towards a formal legal confrontation.
With reputations and significant money at stake, the Ranveer Singh vs. Don 3 producers clash will possibly be heading into a courtroom soon. Will both parties find a middle-ground before the matter is escalated? Only time will tell.
