The first official teaser for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana was unveiled, showcasing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, with a grand release set for April 2, 2026, on Hanuman Jayanti.
New Delhi: Producer Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has unveiled its first glimpse of Lord Rama, with Ranbir Kapoor stepping into the iconic role amid massive anticipation.
The makers have released a dedicated ‘Rama’ teaser, introducing one of the most enduring figures in global storytelling. The teaser offers audiences their first look at Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, bringing into focus a character whose story has resonated for over 5,000 years.
Revered as Maryada Purushottama, the highest ideal of human conduct, Lord Rama embodies dignity, compassion, and moral clarity, even in the face of exile, loss, and injustice, making his story timeless.

Speaking about the film, director Nitesh Tiwari said, “Ramayana’s greatness lies in its emotional richness. At its heart, it is not just about good and evil, but about choices, consequences, and the weight of doing what is right. Rama’s journey is deeply human, and that is what we have tried to stay true to.”
Ranbir Kapoor, reflecting on portraying Rama, shared, “I don’t think I’m here to represent Rama. I’m here to learn from him. There is a simplicity and purity to him that is very rare, and trying to understand and imbibe that has been a deeply humbling experience.”
Producer Namit Malhotra added, “The power of Rama’s story is not in what he conquers, but in what he lets go of. He chooses duty over desire, truth over comfort, and sacrifice over self. That is why his story has endured for thousands of years and continues to matter today.”
Ramayana: Part 1 is envisioned as a sweeping two-part cinematic event inspired by one of the world’s most celebrated epics. Rooted in the mythology of the Trinity — Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the protector), and Shiva (the transformer) , the story follows the descent of Vishnu to Earth in the form of Rama to restore cosmic balance.
Opposing him is the powerful demon king Ravana, played by Yash, whose pride and vengeance set the stage for an epic clash.
The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
Backed by Namit Malhotra, the film features music by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman. Production design is led by Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery, while action is helmed by Terry Notary and Guy Norris.
Touted as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, Ramayana: Part 1 is set to release globally during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 slated for Diwali 2027.
