Jaswinder Bhalla dies in Punjab
The news of Bhalla's death has sent shock waves among the fans, friends and celebs in the entertainment industry in Punjab.According to multiple reports, Bhalla's last rites are scheduled to be held on Saturday, with his mortal remains to be cremated at 12 pm at the Balongi cremation ground in Mohali.
His cremation is expected to be attended by close friends, family, and colleagues from the industry.
Who was Jaswinder Bhalla
Jaswinder Bhalla is best known for his comic timing. He has starred in several films, including Jatt and Juliet, Sardaar Ji, Carry On Jatta and more, over the years. He was popular for the role of Advocate Dhillon in the three installements of Gippy Grewal's Carry On Jatta films. The role made him a household name over the years.Bhalla was last seen in the 2024 release Shinda Shinda No Papa.
He was widely regarded as one of the most successful comedians in the industry.
Jaswinder is survived by his wife and son, actor Pukhraj Bhalla.

The cause of his death remains unknown.Reportedly, Bhalla was brought to the Mohali hospital where he took his last breath on August 22 morning.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring mourned the loss of Jaswinder Bhalla on X, formerly Twitter. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of Jaswinder Bhalla ji. A proud Punjabi voice around the world, his contribution and love for the community will always be remembered. Heartfelt condolences to his family & admirers."
BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal called Bhalla the ‘king of Punjabi comedy', as well as the ‘voice of truth and simplicity.'
"Dr. Bhalla Ji was not only the king of Punjabi comedy but also the voice of truth & simplicity who brought smiles to millions of faces across the globe. From stage to cinema, from villages of Punjab to international platforms, his unmatched humour, warmth & wisdom made him a true global icon of Punjabi culture,” he shared.
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal recognised Jaswinder Bhalla's contributions in the society and wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of legendary Punjabi comedian Jaswinder Bhalla ji. A true icon who used humour not just to entertain but to deliver powerful social messages. His contribution to art and society will always be remembered. Prayers for the departed soul.”
Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa recalled Bhalla's ‘unmatched talent' and prayed for his soul.
He said, “The stage of Punjabi laughter stands silent & empty today…Jaswinder Bhalla ji was a living symbol of Punjabi wit, humour and spirit. With his unmatched talent, he turned simplicity into laughter and made generations smile. Waheguru ji bless his noble soul with peace.”
