PM Modi flags off 2 Amrit Bharat Express trains from poll-bound Assam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two new Amrit Bharat Express trains from Assam. He also initiated the Kaziranga elevated corridor project. This significant infrastructure development will enhance connectivity to Upper Assam. The project includes a wildlife corridor to protect animals and reduce human-wildlife conflict. Bypasses will also be developed to ease town traffic.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains from Assam ahead of state assembly elections. The two new high-tech trains will run across the Guwahati (Kamakhya)-Rohtak route and Dibrugarh-Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) route.
Prior to his arrival in Assam, Modi said that he looks forward to being in Kaliabor, Assam for the Bhoomi Poojan of key development works, including the 35 km elevated corridor across Kaziranga. "This will go a long way in safeguarding animals, particularly in the monsoon season. During the programme, Amrit Bharat trains will be flagged off, which will improve connectivity for the people of Assam," he said in a post on X.

Addressing a public rally in Assam, Modi said, "Today, I have once again had the good fortune of coming to Kaziranga. Memories of my previous visit come flooding back. The moments I spent in Kaziranga National Park two years ago are among the most special experiences of my life."
"Welfare projects launched in Assam have strengthened BJP's mantra of development," he said.
Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project
PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of the Kaziranga elevated corridor project (4-laning of Kaliabor-Numaligarh section of NH-715), worth over Rs 6,950 Crore. He noted that through such projects, economy and ecology can move hand-in-hand."For a long time, there was this notion that nature and progress are opposites...It was said that the two cannot move forward together. But today, India is showing the world that both can advance together," he said.
"Kaziranga is not just a National Park, it is the soul of Assam. It is a priceless gem of India's biodiversity," Modi said at a public rally. He further noted that UNESCO has given it the status of World Heritage Site.
The 86 km long elevated corridor project is an environmentally conscious National Highway project, featuring 35 km of elevated wildlife corridor that will pass through Kaziranga National Park, 21 km Bypass section and 30 km widening of the existing highway section of NH-715 from two to four lanes.

On tourism in Assam, PM Modi said, "In recent years, there has been a continuous increase in the number of tourists in Kaziranga. Through homestays, guide services, transportation, handicrafts and small businesses... local youth have found new sources of income."
The project will pass through Nagaon, Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts and will significantly improve connectivity to Upper Assam, particularly Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. The elevated wildlife corridor aims to ensure the uninterrupted movement of animals, and hence reduce human-wildlife conflict.
Since Assam is a flood-prone state, Modi highlighted that Assam's Kaziranga elevated corridor will help provide wildlife safe passage during floods.
As part of the project, the government will develop Bypasses at Jakhalabandha and Bokakhat that will help to decongest towns and improve urban mobility.
BJP MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa said that Modi's visit to Assam for a foundation stone laying ceremony would send a strong message globally, asserting that the visit was driven by development priorities and not linked to elections.
"The Prime Minister perhaps had some past life connection with Assam, because why else would someone born in Gujarat visit Assam so many times?... The foundation stone laying ceremony he is coming for will send a big message to the entire world, because this road has many benefits... This visit has no relation to elections as he has visited Assam many times before, too," Tasa told ANI.
Modi's Dec visit to Assam
As the election battle is brewing up in the Eastern state of Assam, PM Modi's December visit to the region also marked inaugration of several development projects.He had come to Assam on a two-day visit from December 20 to inaugurate the new terminal of Guwahati international airport and unveil the statue of Assam's first Chief Minister Gopinath Bardaloi after whom the airport is named.
Modi had also laid the foundation stone for a Rs 10,601-crore brownfield ammonia-urea plant in Dibrugarh.
