The new services connect the north-east and eastern regions with major cities in southern and western India.
At present, the Amrit Bharat Express operates only with non-AC coaches. These include general class seating and second-class sleeper coaches, keeping fares affordable for long-distance travellers.
Amrit Bharat Trains Features:
Amrit Bharat Express trains use a push-pull system, with engines attached at both ends. This design helps reduce travel time by allowing quicker acceleration and efficient braking. The trains are capable of running at speeds of up to 130 kilometres per hour.

Improved Facilities Onboard
Indian Railways said the Amrit Bharat Express trains have been designed with passenger comfort in mind. Coaches feature upgraded seats and berths, foldable tables for snacks, LED lighting and fans with protective steel grills. Air-spring suspension bogies are used to improve ride quality.
Each coach has a passenger information system for announcements. Other additions include mobile phone holders, illuminated floor guidance strips and lights that indicate whether toilets are occupied.
There are four toilets in every coach — two Indian-style and two Western-style — fitted with pressurised flushing systems. Safety arrangements include aerosol-based fire suppression units in toilets and electrical sections.
For hygiene and ease of travel, the trains have automatic soap dispensers, foldable bottle holders and sealed gangways between coaches. Individual charging points are provided at every seat and berth, with both USB Type-A and Type-C options. Emergency exterior lighting is also installed to assist passengers during unexpected situations.
Railway officials said the new trains are expected to significantly improve connectivity across regions while keeping long-distance rail travel affordable and dependable.
