PDP lodges complaint against Nitish Kumar in Kashmir, Mirwaiz demands apology
The PDP member, Iltija Mufti, who is daughter of the party chief Mehbooba Mufti, filed the complaint at Kothi Bagh police station in Srinagar, after a group of female party workers protested and raised slogans against the Bihar Chief Minister. The police is yet to announce whether they have filed an FIR or not against the JD-U chief.
People's Democratic Party has filed a complaint against chief minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar seeking registration of FIR against him for pulling down the veil of a female doctor during an official function.

“I'm writing to bring to your attention a vile incident which has caused immense distress and hurt among Muslims, especially women. A few days ago, we watched with shock, horror and worry as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulled down the ‘naqab' of a young Muslim doctor in full public glare at a government function,” Mufti said in her complaint. She also stated that the reaction of people around Kumar was more unsettling including that of the deputy chief minister, who "
"chuckled and watched with glee." “The forceful stripping of her ‘naqab' wasn't just a brutal assault on a Muslim lady but on the autonomy, identity and dignity of every Indian woman,” Mufti alleged.
The PDP member termed it as “deliberate othering and political and economic disempowerment of Muslims all across India." “Perhaps a chief minister engaging in this vulgar act of indecency has now emboldened such lumpen elements, giving them carte blanche (complete freedom) to humiliate and attack Muslim women,” the PDP leader alleged in her complaint.
She said that rather than apologising for what Kumar did, the BJP ministers are “giving vulgar statements." “Yesterday, Giriraj Singh, a Union minister, said Muslims in India should go to hell. If you touch the veil of our women, please be ready for the consequences." “There was a need to file an FIR as, instead of being apologetic, the BJP wants to justify what he did, which is extremely wrong and criminal,” she said.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has also condemned Kumar's act seeking an apology from him and termed it as a grave violation of personal dignity and moral boundaries. "Instead of apologising for his actions certain political parties and sections of the media are attempting to justify the act of the Bihar CM by mischaracterizing it as an issue of women's empowerment, deliberately dragging the debate into the question of hijab," said Mirwaiz.
"For Muslim women who observe hijab , it is a matter of faith, identity, and personal choice which has never been a barrier to education, professional excellence, or social contribution as is being deliberately implied to justify the CMs actions," said Mirwaiz.
Mirwaiz said that that proprietary demands that the CM of Bihar apologise to the woman doctor for his actions and those indulging in these ridiculous justifications stop imposing ideological labels or justifying acts under the garb of so called “progress."
