Optional Subjects That Helped UPSC Toppers Of Last 10 Years Crack AIR 1

Every year, thousands of young people in India take the UPSC Civil Services Exam, but only those who prepare with the right strategy, deep understanding, and a good Optional Subject succeed.

The Optional Subject plays a key role in the UPSC exam. It not only helps boost scores in the mains exam but also increases confidence during the interview. Looking at the list of toppers from the past ten years, it's clear that some subjects have helped many candidates top the exam.

Here's a look at the UPSC toppers from the past 10 years and the optional subjects they chose in the Civil Services Examination.

Shakti Dubey chose Political Science & International Relations as his optional subject. This subject has become very popular in recent years because it's closely related to the General Studies paper and ethics. Shakti said he chose it because it helped strengthen his mains preparation and also helped him understand administrative perspectives during the interview.

Aditya Srivastava, a graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, chose his core subject as his optional. He proved that having a deep understanding of a subject can be your biggest strength.

Ishita Kishore from Delhi also chose Political Science & International Relations and secured AIR-1. She said this subject is not only linked to current affairs but also helps answer questions asked in the interview.

Many candidates consider history difficult, but Shruti Sharma chose it and proved that with interest and dedication, any subject can be easy. She picked history because she liked understanding the present by learning from the past.

Shubham Kumar from Bihar chose Anthropology. This subject has become popular in recent years because its syllabus is limited and it's scoring. Shubham said it helps understand society deeply.

Pradeep Singh's optional subject was Public Administration. This subject is directly linked to the realities of civil service and the administrative framework, which is why it's always been a favourite among candidates.

Kanishk Kataria chose Maths as his optional subject. Maths is usually considered tough, but he showed with strong logic and practice that any goal can be achieved.

Anudeep Durishetty also chose Anthropology and performed brilliantly to secure AIR-1. He believed this subject is concise, logical, and full of sociological perspectives.

Nandini K. R. from Karnataka chose Kannada Literature, a regional language, and topped UPSC. She proved that with deep preparation, one can achieve the highest rank in the country's toughest exam using their mother tongue.

Tina Dabi also chose Political Science & International Relations and secured AIR-1. This subject matched both her interest and understanding. After Tina's success, this subject became even more popular among UPSC aspirants.
