Dhurandhar 2: Noida Show Stopped Mid-Way, Police Called, Angry Fans Say 'We Were Asked To Go Home'
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge finally hit theatres on March 19. But some paid previews of the film were also held in certain theatres across the country. While it was meant to be an exclusive preview of Aditya Dhar’s directorial, it turned into a night of confusion, protests and police intervention at PVR Superplex at Noida’s DLF Mall of India on March 18.
What Really Happened?
The disruption began during the 5:45 pm show on March 18, when a routine 10-minute interval unexpectedly stretched into an indefinite delay. As reported by Hindustan Times, audience members, who had watched only the first half of the film, were informed of a ‘technical glitch’ and were given no clarity on when the screening would resume.
As hours passed, the crowd got frustrated, with many accusing the theatre management of mismanagement and lack of transparency. The situation escalated as groups of viewers also allegedly raised slogans against the multiplex, demanding that the film be resumed.
Tensions further intensified when preparations reportedly began for a 10 pm show in another auditorium, even as earlier viewers continued waiting. As the crowd turned increasingly restless, theatre authorities called in the police to maintain order.
Eventually, all screenings were cancelled, leaving fans disappointed.
What Do People Allege?
Shashank Singh, a businessman from Sector 78 who attended the screening with his wife Swati, told HT, “8 baje se hum wait kar rahe hain. Audi 1 ka show stall kar diya, but they were still running the shows in the rest of the screens!"
Swati also added, “They kept telling us five more minutes, and kept selling popcorn and Pepsi as if the show will start soon. We spent ₹2,000 extra just on F&B and for what? They have made the money from the sales, but what about our time and money?"
Another person named Sakshi Srivastava, who was also present at the theatre to watch the Ranveer Singh starrer, claimed, “I saw that the movie’s second half was playing in another audi. When I questioned this, they told me that if I stand here, they will call police. How can you threaten action against a person trying to get their money’s worth?"
Madhura Walia, a resident of Sector 29 in Noida, also added, “We were just asked to go home. One staff member told us it was some issue with certification and that all later shows had been cancelled. Now nothing was working — what’s the point?"
Refunds Issued
Reportedly, refunds have also been issued to everyone and the theatre staff alleges that the issue was from the distributor’s side. “This was a problem from the distributors’ side. We had around 1,200 people and limited screens. Our hands were tied. Ab ye sab backend se ek hafte mein process hoga, what can we do now? Hum bhi gaaliyaan kha rahe hain," a staffer said.
