Karuppu Movie Release: After uncertainty surrounding Karuppu release date, the makers of Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer have finally confirmed that the film has released in theatres today (May 15), bringing relief and excitement to fans who had been waiting anxiously for updates. Production banner Dream Warrior Pictures issued a statement on social media, apologising to audiences for the delay. The note thanked fans for standing by the team despite setbacks. Meanwhile, Suriya also thanked fans for their patience and support. The film, which was initially set to release on May 14, was delayed due to last-minute issues. It has now released in theatres a day later.
On May 15, Dream Warrior Pictures shared a statement on X (formerly Twitter), and apologized to the audiences for the delay. They also informed that the film has finally released in theatres today. “There are some journeys that test not just time, but the heart itself. To every person who waited for Karuppu who kept asking about the film, who never stopped believing in us even through the silence and delays — we owe you an apology, and more importantly, our deepest gratitude," read the statement.
“We know this wait was painful. We know many of you held onto this film with so much love and expectation. Every delay weighed heavily on us too. But through every setback, it was your support, your messages, your faith, and your endless love that kept this dream alive. Today, with full hearts and tears of gratitude, we finally say: #Karuppu is releasing worldwide!" shared the makers.
They further described the film as a labour of love built with “blood, sweat, sleepless nights, struggles, and emotions," adding that the project now belongs as much to the audience as it does to the team behind it. “Thank you for waiting. Thank you for believing. See you in theatres!" read the statement.
Meanwhile, actor Suriya also shared new posters from the film and expressed gratitude to fans for their patience and support. “Dear all… Thank you for being with us! #Karuppu #VeeraBhadrudu from today!" he wrote.

The announcement comes after reports of release hurdles, cancelled screenings, and financial issues surrounding the film had sparked concern among fans and the industry alike. With the latest confirmation from the makers, anticipation for Karuppu has once again surged across social media, with audiences now eagerly waiting to watch the film on the big screen.
J. Balaji’s Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, saw its May 14 screenings cancelled reportedly due to financial hurdles. While the team worked to resolve the issue, the film was allegedly screened by Qube in Mumbai, Pune, and Varanasi without the producer’s approval. Prabhu’s legal team issued a public notice to prevent the film from suffering the same piracy concerns that affected Jana Nayagan even before its theatrical release. Dream Warrior Pictures shared a legal notice on its official social media accounts, warning fans against sharing or circulating leaked clips from Karuppu.

Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu stars Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, marking her reunion with Suriya after Aaru in 2005. The film also features Yogi Babu, Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy and Anagha Maya Ravi in important roles. RJ Balaji also appears in the film in a negative role.
The story revolves around a father-daughter duo fighting for justice while dealing with repeated delays in their court case. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when Suriya’s character Saravanan enters the picture, with the film teasing him as an incarnation of Karuppusamy.
