Nineteen ministers are likely to take oath alongside Kumar, as the alliance looks to present a balanced cabinet representing all key partners. Based on the seat-sharing understanding, ToI noted, the BJP and JD(U) are expected to secure the majority of the berths, while smaller allies are likely to get one ministerial position per six MLAs.

JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar is set to be sworn in as Bihar chief minister for an unprecedented tenth term on Thursday, with a grand ceremony planned at Patna's iconic Gandhi Maidan, The Times of India reported.

The event will mark one of the largest political gatherings in the state in recent years, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J P Nadda and several other NDA leaders expected to attend. Chief ministers of multiple NDA-ruled states are also scheduled to be present, underscoring the political weight behind the occasion. Shah and Nadda, according to ToI, have already reached Patna.

This could result in one seat each going to Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and three cabinet positions for Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Around eight MLAs each from the BJP and JD(U) are expected to take oath on Thursday.

Kumar resigned on Wednesday before staking claim to form a new government, paving the way for a swift transition. Over three lakh people are anticipated to gather for the swearing-in, with extensive security measures deployed across the venue, a senior official told the newspaper.

The full cabinet expansion is expected after Makar Sankranti on January 14 next year.
