The National Democratic Alliance on Friday released its joint manifesto for the Bihar Assembly elections, outlining 25 key promises.

In its manifesto, the ruling alliance promised more than one crore government jobs and employment opportunities.

The NDA in Bihar comprises the Janata Dal (United), the Bharatiya Janata Party and Union minister Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party. It also includes former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary told reporters that the alliance, if it retains power, will form a high-level committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to assess the social and economic status of several castes among the Extremely Backward Classes and recommend measures for their empowerment.

Choudhary added that members of occupational groups within the Extremely Backward Classes will receive assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh each.

The manifesto also proposes setting up Mega Skill Centres in every district, providing financial aid to one crore women under the Lakhpati Didi scheme and launching Mission Crorepati to support women entrepreneurs in cities, among other developmental measures.

It also promises free ration, 125 units of free electricity, free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, 50 lakh new houses and social security pensions for the poor.

Assembly elections in Bihar will be held on November 6 and November 11, with counting of votes scheduled for November 14.

The Opposition Mahagathbandhan had released its manifesto for the polls on Tuesday.
