We tried the Perplexity bot on WhatsApp to create AI images using Nano Banana and the AI model needs the prompt to clearly mention the use of the Gemini's AI image tool to process the content. Perplexity has its own AI image model which it uses by default.
Perplexity co-founder Aravind Srinivas claimed Nano Banana is the highest-quality model for images which now works through WhatsApp for millions. Meta AI is another option for users on the messaging app and you also have the ChatGPT bot which works through the platform.

When quizzed about this, the AI model said, the exact daily limit for free users is about 3 high-quality images and up to 10 medium-quality images per day. Pro users get unlimited high- and medium-quality generations with priority access."
This suggests Nano Banana images on the Perplexity bot could be adhering to its own policies and not offering the Gemini limit, which has been previously set up to 100 image generations per day but Google seems to have gone dynamic with its policy based on the usage and traffic on its AI servers.
