'My Roles Have Been Chopped Off Many Times': Aarti Chabria On Getting Sidelined In Bollywood
Not every Bollywood story is glamorous, and Aarti Chabria is saying it as it is. The actor recently spoke about how several of her roles were reduced or removed from films, calling it a part of industry realities she had to deal with during her career.
In a conversation on the AlphaTalk podcast, Aarti shared that many of her scenes never made it to the final cut, even in films where she had a significant presence. She said, “My roles have been chopped off or reduced so many times. Despite playing the title role, I didn’t seem to appear in the film at all. There were so many films where my scenes were cut, and songs were removed after they were shot. I had a full song with Shahid Kapoor in Milenge Milenge, but it was cut. Boney was producing that film, and Satish Kaushik directed it. You don’t know why these decisions are taken. We actors always respect the producer’s decision, and there is no regret."
The film she mentioned, Milenge Milenge, featured Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles. It was produced by Boney Kapoor and directed by Satish Kaushik.
Aarti added that this wasn’t a one-off experience and happened across multiple projects. She said, “That was not the only film; there were so many films where my role was cut due to several reasons. In Partner, my role was not originally what it was supposed to be; it was a cameo, but bigger than what made to the final cut. The good thing is that the film was a hit; I have no regrets. It happened in Shootout At Lokhandwala, Awara Pagal Deewana as well. What matters is that the film did well at the end of the day,"
Over the years, Aarti appeared in films like Partner, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Awara Paagal Deewana, Shaadi No. 1 and Heyy Babyy.
The actor stepped away from films after her last major appearance in Milenge Milenge. In 2019, she got married to an Australia-based chartered accountant and chose to focus on her personal life. She has also recently become a mother.
