Mumbai Couple Creates AC Local Pass Using AI Tool: ‘QR Code Entry Shuru Karo’
A woman travelling on a Mumbai AC local train was caught using a fake digital season pass that her husband had created with the help of AI tools. The incident took place on the Kalyan-Dadar AC local, where a vigilant Travelling Ticket Inspector (TTI) noticed that something was wrong with the pass she showed him. Both the woman and her husband have now been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The woman, Gudiya Sharma, is a 28-year-old sales manager with a private bank. When the TTI, Vishal Navle, asked her to show her pass, she reportedly could not open it on the official UTS ticketing app. Instead, she opened a link on a web browser.
The QR code on the pass did not work, which made the TTI even more suspicious. He immediately contacted the Central Railway control room to verify the details.
TTI Discovers Expired Pass Registered To Husband
When railway officials checked the pass number, they found it linked to an old AC season pass that had expired in February, according to The Times of India. It was also registered under the name of a man, Omkar Sharma, the woman's 30-year-old husband.
After confirming this, the TTI reportedly detained Gudiya and informed the Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP). The train was between Kalyan and Dombivli at the time of the inspection.
Once the fraud was confirmed, the GRP questioned the woman and then detained her husband as well. Omkar, an engineer, later admitted that he used his coding skills along with AI tools to reportedly create a fake version of the UTS season pass. He then sent the forged pass to his wife so she could use it for her daily travel.

How Social Media Reacted
Soon, internet users flooded the comment box. A user said, “Sir vo roj 15-25 minutes late rahti hai uska kya karoge." Another noted, “Aare bhai QR code base entry exit shuru karo metro jaise."
Police Probe Possible Link To Larger Fake Pass Network
Police officials reportedly said the couple may not be acting alone and could be connected to a bigger group involved in creating fake digital railway passes. They have started checking whether more people have used similar forged passes on the Mumbai suburban network.
Meanwhile, Railway officials praised TTI Vishal Navle for spotting the suspicious pass quickly. They said his alertness prevented a loss of revenue and helped expose a new method of cheating involving AI-generated tickets.

The Central Railway also issued a reminder to passengers, urging them to buy tickets only from authorised counters, ATVMs or the official UTS mobile app. They warned that using forged tickets can lead to up to seven years in jail, a fine, or both.
The Kalyan railway police have reportedly registered a case under BNS sections related to cheating, forgery, use of forged electronic records and common intention.
