Railways news: ‘Mela Rail Seva’ mobile app launched; devotees can now check train timings, book tickets on phones
The The app will serve as a digital platform for travellers during the fair and will offer services such as train information, medical assistance and nearby lost-and-found centres.
According to Jagran.com, citing Divisional Railway Manager Sunil Kumar Verma, the application is expected to play a key role in ensuring a smooth and safe experience for the millions of devotees arriving in Prayagraj.
– Using the application, pilgrims can access the complete schedule of mela-special trains, their stoppages, seat availability and ticket booking information.
– Passengers can also receive information about amenities available in Prayagraj, including details of restrooms, waiting rooms, drinking water, toilets and other essential facilities.
– The app will also provide information about doctors available at the mela and railway stations. Additionally, details of ambulance services and important helpline numbers are provided to ensure swift assistance in case of emergencies.
– Under the Station Guide section, maps of major railway stations in Prayagraj, entry and exit gates, platform information and surrounding routes are also available.
– A dedicated lost-and-found centre section is also provided in the application, where devotees can track lost luggage or important items in the huge crowd.
The Mela Rail Seva app for Magh Mela 2026 can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android devices. It is currently not available on the Apple App Store.
Magh Mela started on Saturday, January 3, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh and will continue till February 15. The 44-day-long annual Hindu pilgrimage takes place at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers.
