‘Laundry Guy Has LinkedIn Profile’: Businessman Rajiv Chawla Calls Gurugram’s The Camellias A ‘Museum Of Stories’
The Camellias in Gurugram is known as one of the most exclusive places to live in India, mostly chosen by billionaires, top business families and leading startup founders. The homes here are extremely expensive and because of this, the society becomes a topic of jokes on social media. But recently, Rajiv Chawla, Founder and Chairman of Jairaj Group of Industries, shared a different view of the place. He explained that the Camellias is not just a luxury address but a community filled with people who have achieved success through their work and ideas.
The businessman said that many residents are self-made unicorn founders or first-generation achievers who have built their wealth from scratch. According to him, living there means being surrounded by people who inspire you with their dedication, growth and discipline. He believes the community deserves respect for the hard work behind its success.
Why The Residents Of Camellias Deserve Respect
While appearing on Podcast Wala, Rajiv Chawla said, “These days, the media often talks about people who live in The Camellias. The name Camellias is quite famous and I also live there. People usually wonder what kind of people live there and how they behave. There are jokes about it, many stand-up comedians make fun of it and honestly, I enjoy it. But the truth is this: it is a community of achievers. People don't see that side. It is truly a community of achievers."
“The people living next door are the kind who go to the gym with you and many of them are self-made unicorn founders. Almost every person around you is a unicorn and every person is an achiever. Many of them are first-generation achievers and now their next generation has also started growing up. So it is a community that deserves to be appreciated. I am always surrounded by people where I see great success," he added.
In the Instagram caption, Rajiv Chawla wrote, “THE CAMELLIAS, INDIA'S MOST MEME-ABLE ADDRESS. Let's be honest, if there's one place Stand Up comedians LOVE roasting, it's The Camellias. ‘Even the laundry guy has a LinkedIn profile.' ‘Parking hi Super Car rally lagti hai,' ‘Delivery boy bhi entry pe MBA lagta hai,' and of course, MEMES. So many memes. Kids here don't play ‘House, they play Startup Acquisition Exit. But here's the plot twist.
Behind every joke, behind every punchline, behind every meme-worthy pool and marble lobby, lives a community of absolute achievers. People who didn't inherit comfort, they earned it. Founders, Unicorn builders, self made entrepreneurs, creators of jobs, industries, innovations and impact. People who have tasted failure, rejection, stress, sleepless nights, EMI nightmares and still got up the next morning and said, Let's try again'."

Rajeev Chawla says that people often see The Camellias only as a symbol of luxury, but the real story is very different. He explains that every person living there has gone through hard work, long struggles and many challenges before reaching this stage. While comedians and social media users make jokes about the place, he believes the residents have earned their position through years of effort.
According to him, each home has its own story of ambition and growth. He feels the community motivates the younger generation to aim higher and believe in their dreams. He also says that they do not mind the jokes, because they know how much work went into building their lives. For him, The Camellias is not just a luxury address; it is a reminder that success comes from constant effort.
