Katie Leung Admits She Feels Happier In Bridgerton Than Harry Potter: ‘I Was So Young’
Many remember Katie Leung as Cho Chang from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She was just a teenager when she joined the film series alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Years later, her life and career look very different. Today, she is part of Bridgerton Season 4, where she plays Lady Araminta Gun and says this new phase feels much better. Katie shared that she was very young during her Harry Potter days and was easily affected by what people said about her.
At that time, she was still trying to understand herself. Now, she feels more confident and clear about who she is. She knows what she wants and understands her limits. Working on the Netflix series has brought a “healthy focus" on her work and “great connections" with her co-stars. She feels happy where she is and does not wish to return to her teenage years.
Why Katie Leung Feels More Confident Now
During her chat with Entertainment Tonight, Katie Leung was asked if many still remember her as Cho Chang from the Harry Potter films. Now that she is part of Bridgerton, which also has a large and loyal fan base, they wanted to know how she feels about being in the public eye again.
The actress said, “I think the difference is like me getting older and a bit more experienced. Seeing none of that kind of stuff really matters in the end. I guess it’s difficult to say because I was so young at the time, and I was so I guess easily influenced by what people would say about me, because I didn’t know who I was. Now I feel like I know who I am. I know what I want. I know my boundaries."
“I can protect myself through just knowing myself better, and I’ve come into Bridgerton like just having a really healthy focus on the work and making great connections with the people that are on the same page. So glad I’m here. I would not want to go back to that time. Not because you know I had a bad time or anything, but it’s just really nice when you know who you are. I’m still figuring that out, but I’m a bit closer," Katie Leung added.
Her Journey In Harry Potter
Katie Leung made her first appearance in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005. She played Cho Chang, a student at Hogwarts who became Harry Potter’s short term love interest. Her character was part of five films.
