As Kangana Ranaut celebrates her 40th birthday on March 23, the actor and BJP leader continues to draw attention not just for her work, but also for her fitness and radiant skin. Unlike many in Bollywood who follow restrictive or trend-driven diets, Kangana’s approach to wellness is refreshingly simple, grounded in Indian traditions and guided by an understanding of her own body.
In a series of candid posts shared on X (formerly Twitter) in May 2021, Kangana offered a glimpse into her daily routine, emphasising that her diet is not about following trends but about listening to her body’s unique needs.
A Morning Routine Built on Balance
Kangana has described herself as having a “high pitta" constitution, an Ayurvedic body type associated with heat, acidity, and a strong metabolism. To manage this, her mornings focus on balancing internal heat and preventing acidity.
She begins her day with a glass of water, followed shortly by a cup of strong tea with regular sugar, paired with soaked almonds and raisins. While tea is typically considered acidic, Kangana balances it with soaked raisins, which she believes have an alkalising effect.
“I tend to have high pitta, chai or coffee is not ideal for me. To compensate, I take soaked raisins," she has explained, adding that this approach may also benefit others with a similar body type.
Light, Fresh Breakfast Choices
Rather than opting for heavy, cooked breakfasts, Kangana prefers to keep her mornings light, especially when she is not working on film sets. After yoga and meditation, she usually eats fruits and avoids cooked meals.
However, she also acknowledges that this routine may not suit everyone. For younger individuals or those engaged in physically demanding work, she advises a more substantial diet.
Lunch Rooted in Home and Tradition
Lunch, for Kangana, is deeply connected to her upbringing. She sticks to simple, home-cooked meals that reflect her roots, typically dal, sabzi, and rice.
Her comfort foods include North Indian pakoda kadhi with rice, along with occasional indulgences like Maharashtrian-style pomfret curry or pan-fried fish. To make her meals easier on digestion, she often adds a squeeze of lemon to her dal and vegetables, which she believes helps balance acidity. Curd is another staple in her diet, particularly during warmer months.
Hydration and Smart Snacking
Throughout the day, Kangana prioritises hydration, choosing natural and cooling options over processed snacks. Coconut water is her go-to, though she also recommends fresh lime water or buttermilk, depending on availability.
When her schedule becomes more demanding, such as during film shoots, she adapts her routine by adding small snacks to maintain energy levels.

At its core, Kangana Ranaut’s diet is guided by a simple philosophy, eat local, stay balanced, and understand your body.
