India Vs Australia 2nd T20I Weather Forecast: Rain Predicted To Ruin Another Game?

After a rain-abandoned fixture in Canberra, India and Australia move to Melbourne for the second T20I of the five-match series on Friday, October 31. The two great rivals battle out for supremacy at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, looking to take a 1-0 lead and build some momentum in the rubber.

Only 9.4 overs of play were possible before persistent rains forced the match officials to call off the proceedings at the Manuka Oval. Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and put Suryakumar Yadav's power-packed Indian batting line-up in.

India began where they left off at the Asia Cup 2025 in September, playing aggressively from the very beginning. In-form opener Abhishek Sharma, who was in imperious form during the regional competition in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, blazed it from the word go before missing out for once following a rare miscued hit on 19.

Even as Abhishek fell early, fellow opener Shubman Gill and skipper Suryakumar kept the foot on the accelerator. The two high-skilled batters played some delightful strokes. While Gill entertained the packed crowd during his unbeaten 37 off 20 deliveries, Suryakumar showed signs of a return to his very best in his knock of 39 not out off 24 balls, enjoying the true pace and bounce on offer.

But just when the two amazing strokemakers looked set to build on their great starts, rain came in hard and allowed no further play to take place on the night. Australia would know the bad weather came for their rescue after their attack was hit from all sides of the park.

Nathan Ellis dismissed Abhishek, but he finished with figures of 1 for 25 off his 1.4 overs. Even spearhead Josh Hazlewood (0/24) failed to provide them with breakthroughs. The Australians will be hoping for an improved showing with the ball at the MCG.

Unfortunately for the two sides, the rain threat hovers over even the second T20I of the series at the MCG in the state of Victoria. The forecast is for cloud cover and some showers heading into the contest, which could mean a delayed start, though the predictions for mid-match timings is better.

Expect the cold vibes of Canberra even in Melbourne, with temperatures floating between 13 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius. Humidity is expected to nudge close to 40 per cent, with the wind blowing at 6 km/hour.
