When flying to international destinations, most people prefer to arrive at the airport at least three to four hours before departure. Why? To avoid delays caused by long queues, security checks, and, of course, immigration. To streamline the immigration process for travellers arriving in and out, the government introduced a new initiative: the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).
The initiative has garnered popularity amongst celebrities. Recently, Bollywood stars Rani Mukerji and Sushmita Sen were seen registering for it. Even legendary Malayalam actor Mohanlal was also spotted effortlessly clearing immigration using the programme's dedicated e-gates. The videos have been shared on social media by the Bureau of Immigration India, which has been actively promoting the programme across major international airports.

What Is The Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)?
Launched in 2024, the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme is designed to help you skip the queues and clear immigration in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. It was first introduced at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport in June 2024. It was then officially expanded to other airports, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Kolkata. The facility is available at 13 airports, and more are expected to join soon.
Who Can Apply For Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)?
According to the Bureau of Immigration, the programme is open to Indian citizens and foreign nationals holding OCI Cards. Applicants must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months. Once approved, the registration remains valid for ten years or until the passport expires, whichever is earlier.
Eligible applicants must provide their biometrics (fingerprints and a facial image), along with the required information in the application form's data fields.
How To Sign Up For Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)?
Here is a step-by-step guide:
Apply online at https://ftittp.mha.gov.in by uploading a photograph, a copy of your passport, proof of address, and your OCI card (if applicable). A QR code will be generated following submission.
You will receive an acknowledgement upon successful application submission to your registered mobile number and email address.
Visit the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) during office hours, or at the designated international airport, to complete biometric registration by presenting the QR code and your passport. No prior appointment is required. The registration process for FTI-TTP may take up to one month.
Once approved, travellers can use the dedicated e-gates by scanning their passport and boarding pass, followed by facial verification.
