The scheme combined awareness, enforcement and education measures to tackle root causes that kept girls out of school. Its focus on local action, monitoring and inter-ministerial coordination created visible gains in health and schooling indicators.

UDISE+ data show girls enroled in 2021-22 at about 12.28 crore from primary to higher secondary, an increase over previous years, indicating better intake and retention across levels.
It also shows that in the foundational years it has risen nearly 99%, and secondary levels are improving steadily. These gains mean more girls are continuing their education rather than dropping out early, a direct indicator of schooling stability.
Girls' overall enrolment share has climbed to 48.3% in 2024-25, showing a consistent move toward gender balance in classrooms. Strengthening enrolment is foundational to educational progress.
Programmes such as Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav helped re-enroll more than 100,000 out-of-school girls, signalling that retention, not just access, was finally being taken seriously.

As per the data from the Ministry of Education, female teachers now make up 54.2% of the teaching workforce, helping to create role models and supportive learning environments for girls.
