'Had Enough Of His Hatred': Prosecutor Reveals Charlie Kirk Murder Suspect's Text To Roommate
The prosecutor in the Charlie Kirk assassination case has told the court that the suspect, Tyler Robinson, “had enough of and was tired of Kirk's hatred".
News agency AFP quoted the prosecutor in Utah as saying that Robinson had sent such messages to his roommate.
Tyler Robinson had sent the message on the day of the shooting, and discussed his rifle, possible motive and other details on the planning surrounding the event, CNN cited charging documents released by Utah County officials.
Robinson's roommate told police about a note left by Robinson under the keyboard, which read, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it."
Police said they found a photo of the note, CNN said.
Further, in the court filing, prosecutors described the roommate as “a biological male who was involved in a romantic relationship with Robinson."
Robinson's roommate provided their text messages to police, according to the documents.
Tyler Robinson faces seven counts in state court in connection with the fatal shooting at a Utah Valley University campus event last week.
Prosecutors submitted the charges against Robinson to the court on Tuesday, and a judge read them aloud and said he would appoint a defence attorney.
THE CHARGES AGAINST TYLER ROBINSON
One of the charges says Robinson intentionally or knowingly caused Kirk's death. A conviction is punishable by death, life in prison, life without parole or at least 25 years behind bars.
A sentence could be further enhanced because Robinson allegedly targeted Kirk for his political beliefs and carried out the attack in the presence of children.
Robinson is accused of shooting Kirk with a firearm. As with the murder charge, penalties for this count could be higher because he allegedly targeted Kirk for his political beliefs and carried out the attack in the presence of children.
There are two counts of this. One alleges that Robinson removed the rifle he used to shoot Kirk from the scene and hid it. The second alleges that he removed and hid the clothes he wore when he shot Kirk.

Prosecutors allege that Robinson knew children under age 14 were present at the time of the shooting and may have heard or seen it.
This count, too, carries the potential for enhanced penalties because he allegedly targeted Kirk for his political beliefs.
