George Soros funding anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ protests in US

Millions of protesters are preparing for anti-Trump rallies across the US. These 'No Kings' protests aim to denounce the government shutdown and President Trump's policies. Revelations indicate George Soros's Open Society Foundations are a significant funder of the movement, with millions in grants to key organizations like Indivisible. Over 2,600 protests are scheduled nationwide.

Washington DC and hundreds of other US cities are on edge on Saturday as millions of protesters prepared to hit the streets for a wave of anti-Trump rallies. The so-called 'No Kings' protests are being staged to denounce the government shutdown, President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown, and what opponents call his increasingly authoritarian tendencies.

On the eve of protests, fresh revelations have emerged linking billionaire donor George Soros to the movement's funding. At the center of the storm is the Open Society Foundations (OSF), Soros's $32 billion philanthropic juggernaut, reports The Daily Mail.

Who is funding 'No Kings' protest?

The “No Kings” protests that will be taking place on Saturday are being funded by foundations belonging to billionaire philanthropist George Soros. One of the groups is the Open Society Foundations, founded by the major Democratic donor.

Records show that OSF has funneled $7.6 million in grants to Indivisible, one of three major progressive coalitions behind No Kings. They make up a sizable chunk of the group's roughly $12 million revenue each year. The donations, including a $3 million grant in 2023, were issued through the Open Society Action Fund 'to support the grantee's social welfare activities,' disclosures show, according to The Daily Mail.

Matthew Palumbo, author of a forthcoming book about Soros' son and successor, said, "In total, the OSF has awarded nearly $8 million to the Indivisible Project from 2017-2023. Despite Alex trying to portray himself as a moderate face, he clearly has no problem associating with a protest whose other sponsors include the Democratic Socialists of America, among other radical groups."

In 2023, the foundation, through the Open Society Action Fund, issued a two-year grant of $3 million to the Indivisible organization. The grant was "to support the grantee's social welfare activities," according to the Open Society Foundation's website.

Per the Open Society Foundations' website, Soros "has given away more than $32 billion of his personal fortune" to the foundations. His son Alex serves as chairman of the board, as per Fox News. According to the Indivisible organization's website, Ezra Levin is the executive co-director behind the group. Leah Greenberg, Levin's wife, serves as the other executive co-director. In 2017, Indivisible received a $350,000 grant from Tides Advocacy, a group affiliated with the Tides Network. The Tides Foundation, a foundation also affiliated with the Tides Network, has been accused of funding anti-Israel campus riots.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz sounded the alarm this week, declaring: 'There's considerable evidence that George Soros and his network are behind funding these rallies, which may well be riots all across the country.'

Organizers say more than 2,600 protests are scheduled to take place across the country — from New York to San Diego — in what they're calling No Kings Day.

They hope to build on the momentum of their previous day of action on June 14, when around 2,000 rallies were held in all 50 states and drew more than five million people. That earlier protest coincided with a military parade in Washington marking the Army's 250th anniversary — and President Trump's 79th birthday. They were largely peaceful.
