'Kitna giroge?' Congress hauls in PM Modi's mother in 'vote chori' AI video; BJP reacts

The BJP has strongly condemned an AI-generated video shared by the Bihar Congress, which depicts a caricature of PM Modi being rebuked by a figure resembling his late mother. BJP leaders have accused the Congress of resorting to cheap political tactics and disrespecting women.
As political battles heat up ahead of Bihar's Assembly polls later this year, the BJP launched a fierce attack on the Congress after its Bihar unit shared an AI-generated video depicting PM Modi and his late mother, Heeraben.
Several saffron party leaders accused the opposition of lowering political discourse and resorting to “cheap tactics” after failing to connect with the public.
In his dream, a woman resembling his late mother appears and sternly rebukes him for invoking her name in politics. The scene ends with the Modi-like figure waking up in shock. The caption accompanying the post read in Hindi: “Ma appears in Saheb's dreams. Watch this interesting conversation.”The clip quickly drew sharp criticism from the BJP.
National spokesperson for the party, Pradeep Bhandari alleged that the video was part of a deliberate attempt orchestrated under the direction of Rahul Gandhi. “On the instructions of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress mocked PM Modi's late mother. It is sickening to see a party stoop this low. Congress is Anti Women,” he posted on X along with a nearly one minute video message on the matter.
Another BJP spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawalla, also weighed in, branding the clip a “disgusting” act. He said Congress had “crossed all limits” by targeting someone no longer alive, adding that the party had become “Gaaliwadi, not Gandhiwadi.”Meanwhile, Bjp leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain called the grand old party "shameless"
"Congress is not shying away from shamelessness. They are not shying away from petty conduct. On one hand, they abuse him with the national flag in the background, and on the other hand, they release his video to justify it, instead of apologising...They are insulting the PM and his mother, as well as the women of the country. Entire Bihar and the country is outraged over this petty conduct of the Congress. Congress will get a reply for this," he said while talking to news agency ANI.
In addition, Rajasthan BJP chief Madan Rathore said the Congress had “lost its ground in politics” and was now resorting to “demeaning tricks” that society would ultimately reject. “Sometimes they use indecent words for the Prime Minister's mother, now they circulate such videos. This is not just condemnable, it is disgraceful,” Rathore remarked.
A continuing flashpoint
This fresh controversy comes on the heels of another row in Bihar last month, when slogans allegedly insulting PM Modi's mother were raised during the Congress-RJD's ‘Voter Adhikar Rally' in Darbhanga.Addressing the incident at a later event, the prime minister had turned emotional, declaring that the insults were not directed at him alone but at all mothers, sisters, and daughters of India. “Mother is our self-respect, our world,” he had said.
The Opposition's INDIA bloc ally RJD has argued that its AI clip was intended as political satire targeting the Prime Minister and not as an insult to his family.
"Yes, Prime Minister is right. No one has the right to abuse anyone's mother or sister. The same thing applies to him, too, when he spoke badly about Sonia Gandhi and all the women of Congress on his stage. The Prime Minister has not apologised for that to date. Bihar's daughter was abused during the elections," party leader Rohini Acharya had said.
However, the BJP has continued to frame the matter as an attack on women's dignity and a deliberate attempt to erode political decency.
The dispute has now deepened an already bitter war of words between the two national parties, with both sides trading charges over the limits of criticism in political campaigns.
