What was supposed to be another routine flight descended into chaos when an unruly passenger tried to open an exit door while the plane was in the air. The scary incident happened on a Frontier Airlines flight, which was travelling from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
The situation could have been catastrophic, but a former professional MMA fighter came to the rescue and took charge of the situation. A video capturing the exact moment when the incident unfolded has been going viral on social media, where the man wearing a black Jiu Jitsu tee was seen trying to restrain the passenger and prevent him from causing any harm to others on board.

The clip has since gone viral on the internet, with many praising the man’s quick action and criticising the passenger who tried to pull the stunt, while others debated whether a plane’s door can be opened mid-air or not.
“Bro really locked him down and went back to chewing his gum like it’s a normal Tuesday morning, absolute legend," said one person.
Another commented, “Always need that one dude with the Jiu-Jitsu shirt on every flight."
“32k feet above sea level. That would have been a disaster. Maybe mental health medical reports should be a requirement for boarding aircraft," a different concerned person said
Meanwhile, someone explained, “Guys, calm down. The emergency exit simply won’t open mid-flight. The cabin doors are plug-type designs that hinge inwards, meaning the door swings into the cabin when open. You can’t open a door like that against 30,000 psi of outward pressure."
“Trying to open the door to a plane above 30k ft is like trying to push open a bank vault with an uncooked Chinese noodle while ten thousand elephants are shoving back against it. You absolute geniuses, the pressure outside is like a freight train. Sit down," mentioned another individual.
According to a report by CBS News Chicago, the former professional MMA fighter, John Longwood, told them that the passenger appeared heavily intoxicated. When he tried to open the exit door, the flight attendants acted quickly, trying to calm him down, asking him to return to his seat, but he allegedly ignored their instructions. He even tried to reach the front of the aircraft and enter the cockpit.
The situation took a turn when the passengers allegedly got into a fight with an off-duty attendant; that’s when others jumped in to help restrain. Among them was John. At one point, he broke free of his restraints, prompting others to step in again and control him for the remainder of the flight. The pilot then decided to divert the flight to Miami, after which the passenger was handed over to law enforcement officers.
