Actress Sara Arjun made a mark with her portrayal of Yalina Jamali Mazari in Ranveer Singh starrer Dhurandhar, and will soon be seen in its second installment- Dhurandhar The Revenge. A few days ago, several media reports suggested that Sara might step in as the female lead for Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film Heer Ranjha. However, there was no official confirmation about the same. Now, casting director Mukesh Chhabra has dismissed rumours of her casting in Heer Ranjha. He clarified that the actress has not signed any other film yet, and is just waiting for Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 to release.
Mukesh Chhabra Clarifies Sara Arjun Has Not Signed Any Other Film
On March 7, Mukesh Chhabra took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a picture of Sara Arjun. In his note, he clarified that the actress has not signed any other film yet, and is waiting for Dhurandhar 2 to release on March 19. “Sara Arjun has not signed any other film. We are just waiting for D 2. She has not signed any film and has not met anyone regarding any project. So please relax, guys. I will personally update you about her next project. Just wait all the other news is only rumours," he wrote.

This comes a few days after Mid-Day reported that Sara is the top contender to play the female lead in Sajid Ali’s directorial venture Heer Ranjha. The report stated that the makers have been looking for a fresh face, and Sara checks the box. A source told the portal, “The team is looking for a relatively fresh face. After ‘Dhurandhar’, Sara has emerged as one of the most promising young actors today. She is among the strongest names being evaluated for Heer." The project is presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Preety Ali under the banner of Pi – Films Pvt Ltd.
Earlier, Ekta Kapoor had also seemingly dismissed reports about Sara Arjun’s casting. Sharing a screenshot of an online news report claiming Sara Arjun and Rohit Saraf had been signed for Heer Ranjha, Ekta Kapoor wrote: “Need great scriptwriters in fiction. Wanna join? You all write great fiction." However, she didn’t specify whether she was addressing rumours about Sara or Rohit’s casting.
