Dhurandhar’s Rehman Dakait Lyari Mansion Is Real‚ But Not In Pakistan— This Place Charges Rs 50K Per Day
Dhurandhar has been enjoying a strong run at the box office since its release on December 5, 2025. The film has garnered attention not only for its compelling story but also for its powerful performances. While Ranveer Singh leads the cast as Hamza Ali Mazari, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, it is Akshaye Khanna's portrayal of Rehman Dakait that has won widespread praise from audiences.
Although the film is set in Pakistan, much of it was actually shot in India. Several scenes were filmed across Punjab and Chandigarh. One of the most striking locations is Dakait's grand home in Lyari, Karachi, which, in reality, is the historic Lal Kothi in Amritsar. Known for its vintage architecture and rich history, the building adds significant depth to the narrative.

True Scoop spoke with Deepak Yadav, the caretaker of Lal Kothi, who shared some intriguing details about the Dhurandhar shoot. He revealed that the historic location has hosted numerous film shoots over the years. For Dhurandhar, the crew filmed at Lal Kothi for two days, with Akshaye Khanna, Ranveer Singh, Saumya Tandon, and other cast members present on site. Deepak also mentioned that the Kothi charges Rs 50,000 per day for film shoots. Additionally, he explained that the building is managed by a Trust and does not belong to any individual.

What Dhurandhar's Set Decorator Said?
Replying to the video, the set decorator for Dhurandhar, Silky Pandit, wrote, “It was a huge blessing to decorate this house for Rehman."

Deepak Yadav further shared, “Multiple films have been shot here, including the one Sadiyaan that featured Rishi Kapoor and Rekha. I don't remember the names of the movies much. Last year, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and Ranveer Singh came here for a film's shooting. Sunny Deol, along with his son Karan Deol, has also come here. The building is owned by a Trust; no individual owns it."
In Dhurandhar, Akshaye Khanna portrays Rehman Dakait, a real-life Pakistani gangster. Dakait was killed in a police encounter led by Pakistani SP Chaudhry Aslam, who is depicted in the film by Sanjay Dutt. The movie portrays Dakait as the individual who helped supply weapons and explosives to the terrorists responsible for the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
