Dharmendra Once Hit A Fan But Later Fed Him Milk & Roti. How Bobby Deol Remembers This Story
Bollywood's legendary actor Dharmendra, affectionately known as ‘He-Man', has passed away just days before his 90th birthday, leaving the film industry and his fans in mourning.
According to his fans, his death has left a void filled with echoes of unforgettable memories, his charming smile, distinctive style, and straightforward nature. They believe Dharmendra's legacy will live on through the stories and moments shared by those who loved and admired him.
Dharmendra's family is heartbroken by the loss, yet they have not released any official statement. Stories of Dharmendra's love for his children are well-known in Bollywood circles. Bobby Deol recently shared an unheard story about his father on Raj Shamani's podcast, and it has since gone viral on social media.
Bobby Deol, in a podcast conversation about his father, recalled an incident from his childhood when Dharmendra lost his temper and hit a fan. “Papa always treats people with love and respect," he said. “But once, a fan said something that offended him. In a moment of anger, Papa beat him. I was very young then and couldn't understand what was happening."
Deol continued, “I was astonished by what happened next. The fan apologised and fell at Papa's feet. But once Papa's anger cooled, he took the man home, gave him milk and roti, offered him clothes, and sent him off with love. That's my Papa."
Smiling, Bobby Deol added, “I believe in action — words aren't needed. People talk about Sunny Bhaiya's ‘two-and-a-half-kilo hands,' but Papa's hands weighed twenty kilos!"
Bobby Deol also spoke about the strict upbringing he and his brother Sunny Deol had in the 70s and 80s, when fear of the notorious kidnappers Ranga-Billa was widespread. Dharmendra, deeply affected by the atmosphere of panic at the time, imposed strict rules at home to keep his children safe.
Deol recalled, “I wasn't allowed to step out after school and had to ride my bicycle indoors. When my college friends hosted house parties, I only went to help with the decorations — I still had to be back home by 9 p.m."
Dharmendra's illustrious film career began with his debut film ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere‘ in 1960, where he played a boxer. His impressive physical strength and commanding presence became trademarks in his roles, starting from his very first film. Throughout his career, filmmakers capitalised on his strong build and charismatic persona, making him a beloved figure in Bollywood.
